Now more than ever, due to economic uncertainties from the COVID-19 pandemic, associations may be looking for way to save money or to receive some assistance. There are a number of cities in Arizona that offer grant programs to help community associations fund different projects within their communities. Below is a list of links to various grant programs offered by different cities in Arizona. Peoria: The City of Peoria’s Neighborhood Grants Program was created to financially help associations with new projects in their communities, specifically, projects that would revitalize and/or provide safety within the association. The program application is open until April 30, 2020. If an association’s project is selected, the association may be awarded up to $10,000. Some examples of eligible projects that would revitalize and/or provide safety within the association, include, but are not limited to, the addition of new walking paths, benches, playground equipment, drinking fountains and additional lighting. A few requirements include: 3 quotes/bids for the services and materials, a resolution by the Board approving the application, and that the Board attend two of the City’s quarterly classes for HOAs prior to December 2020. Chandler: The City of Chandler HOA Matching Grant Program allows HOA to apply for a grant of up to $10,000 every three years. There are five eligible project types for the grant. They include: “1) Improvement of monument entry signs; 2) Painting of planned development perimeter walls; 3) enhanced landscaping in development common areas; 4) general enhancement projects; 5) trap neuter and return program. Goodyear: The City of Goodyear Community Funding Program allows non-profits to apply for monies from the City. The non-profit should be able to track how many Goodyear residents will be served. Applications are typically opened in April/May, however, we did not see an open application yet. Surprise: The City of Surprise Neighborhood Grant Program Application for fiscal year 2020-2021 is not yet posted on the website. However, the website has useful information from last year that an association could use to prepare for next year’s application. The City will provide up to $10,000 for neighborhood projects, including projects that provide a public benefit, including neighborhood events, neighborhood development, neighborhood preservation, and neighborhood cultural, social and recreational initiatives. https://www.surpriseaz.gov/3406/Neighborhood-Grant-Program
