SB1722 was signed by the Governor on April 09, 2021 and will go into effect on September 29, 2021. Once effective, the bill will extend the time a political sign can be left up from three (3) days after a general election, to fifteen (15) days after a general election or if the sign is for a candidate in a primary election who does not advance to the general election, fifteen days after the primary election. Please keep this in mind for any election that occurs on or after September 29, 2021.

Please remember that regardless of the personal feelings/affiliations of the Board, it is vitally important that enforcement of any/all political statutes be exercised in an equal and uniform manner. By familiarizing yourself with applicable statutes and enforcing them in a fair and consistent manner, the Board can help to foster a respectful community environment during the upcoming election year.
